Hemlok is one of the best floor weapons thanks to fast TTK, good mid-range control, and better ammo efficiency than Light weapons.

Apex Legends Weapons Tier List for Season 29

The Mythic tier of the rankings is separate because Care Package weapons are built entierly different - they’re way too good this season. The L-STAR is the big bad of the season IMO with increased damage and the Redline Hop-Up, which boosts damage and projectile size when it gets close to overheating. Kraber still has its signature one-shot potential, while G7 Scout is a premium marksman pick when you can get your hands on it.

For the regular floor loot, S-Tier is all about weapons that can realistically carry a ranked game even without being fully kitted out. I don’t like the gun, but Hemlok objectively belongs near the top because its burst damage and mid-range pressure are excellent, even after its recent nerfs. R-99, Alternator, RE-45, and Prowler are all insanely powerful in close-range fights in different ways, while Wingman and Triple Take are classic all-range options.
Best Weapons in Apex Legends Season 29
The best weapons in Apex Legends Season 29 are the guns that fit how ranked actually plays. You need one weapon that can get you on top of the close-range chaos, then another that lets you poke and get occasional picks on teams before the push even starts.
Hemlok

Hemlok is one of the best weapons in Apex Legends Season 29 because it does exactly what ranked needs. Its TTK cracks shields fast, burst firing style lets you save bullets and occasionally get 2 picks per mag, and handling is just too good. Even after recent nerfs to damage, recoil, hipfire spread, and magazine size, it remains one of the most reliable weapons in the game - especially when you get your hands on decent attachments and optics.
Hemlok also works well in Season 29 because Light ammo sustain took a hit, although a relatively mild one. With Light ammo stacks reduced, weapons like R-99, R-301, Alternator, and RE-45 need a little more looting than before. Hemlok avoids that issue completely while dishing out mad damage without burning through ammo anywhere as quickly.
The best way to use Hemlok is as your main mid-range weapon. Pair it with an R-99, RE-45, Alternator, or Mozambique. Use the Hemlok crack armor before the fight begins, then swap to your close-range weapon when the push starts.
R-99

The R-99 is one of the best close-range guns in Apex Legends, and it’s been like this for years. Its TTK is insanely high and extremely punishing when your tracking is on point. The most recent changes did not bring down the basic appeal of the gun - just watch your ammo. If you can control the recoil and stay close enough, the R-99 deletes people in seconds.
The downside is that it is not very forgiving. If you miss, you can empty the mag quickly, and the Light ammo stack reduction makes it slightly more annoying to feed across a long ranked match. R-99 is best for players who like taking fights first. It fits legends that can force close fights - Alter, Octane, Wraith, Pathfinder, Bangalore, and Ballistic can all get good value from it. But its value doesn't end there, you can realistically use it on any legend in the game equally as good.
Alternator

The recent change did increase the Double Tap unlock requirement on Alternator from 375 to 500 points, so the gun takes longer to get to its power spike. Even with that change, the Alternator is worth using because the base weapon is stable, simple, and reliable.
At first glance, it’s the same as R-99, but what makes Alternator so good is how easy it is to control. You can hipfire it well, track moving players, and keep damage consistent on mid-range without feeling like you need to do something mechanically crazy. With a strong laser, it becomes one of the better guns for CQC fights, too.
RE-45

RE-45 is one of the most enjoyable close-range weapons in Season 29. It feels quick, efficient, and easy to swap to when a fight gets ugly. It is not as iconic as the R-99, but it gives you a lot of practical value in ranked because it handles so well.
The weapon’s biggest strength is how naturally it fits aggressive fights. You can pull it out quickly, chase weakened players, and finish up knocks without feeling stuck in a slow animation. It also works well for legends that constantly create short-range pressure, especially Bangalore and Octane.
RE-45 is not the weapon I’d use for long trades, and it is not meant to replace a mid-range gun. Its job is to finish fights. Pair it with Hemlok, Wingman, Triple Take, Nemesis, or R-301 and use it as your closer.
It also gets extra value because many players underestimate it. They expect an SMG or shotgun to win the duel, then get shredded by a fast pistol that barely gives them time to react. In a season where fights end quickly, that kind of speed matters.
Wingman

Wingman is at a good place for players who enjoy precision weapons. It is not the easiest gun to play in the game, never was, but the reward is there. Insane strafe speed, high per-shot damage, and a flexible mid-range profile make it one of the best “skill expression” weapons in the current seasons and many seasons before it.
The Wingman is especially valuable because it can act both like a pocket marksman weapon and a shotgun. You can use it for poke and close-range cleanup just as well if your aim is good.
It also does not need constant spraying control to be useful, which is something lots of players appreciate. The Wingman lets you play slower, take clean single shots, and send big damage rockets at your opponents. If you miss, the gun is bad, so don’t miss.
Triple Take

This one might be controversial, but I think Triple Take remains one of the best ranged weapons for players who want to poke without committing to a full sniper. It’s crazy good on mid-to long ranges, and you can actually play it like a slightly weaker shotgun in close range.
The weapon is a bit clunkier than some early seasons players might remember, and it does not always feel as good as a burst rifle or Wingman right now. Still, it has its place in the meta, and I think it’s worth learning and running in your games. I believe Triple Take is also easier to use than some of the more demanding long-range sniper and marksman weapons, so that’s a great trait for newer players.
Prowler

Prowler is one of the strongest close-range guns in the game if you are good with it. It’s sort of like Hemlock, but built for closer ranges - the damage numbers are nasty, the magazine gives you room to work, and the hipfire can win fights quickly when you’re face to face with your enemies.
Not everyone likes the Prowler’s burst feel, I don’t, in fact, and if you are not used to the delay between bursts, the gun can feel super awkward. Once you get the right upgrades and start using it confidently, though, it hits extremely hard. But Prowler absolutely belongs in S-Tier - its ceiling is so high. A good Prowler player can wipe teams before they get a real chance to answer.
Sentinel

You can go with either the Longbow or a Sentinel, and you won’t be necessarily wrong, but I think Sentinel is just better if you’re used to the gun. While Longbow is easier to play and can be much more oppressive with lesser mechanical requirements, well-landed Sentinel shots create situations from which your enemies can’t possibly recover.
You can use it as a poke weapon or as a quick-switch burst damage button - either way, the gun is a menace. It doesn’t get better than this - the only better option in the game is the Kraber, but you’re not getting your hands on it every game.
Best Close-Range Weapons in Apex Legends
Close-range weapons are the most important part of the ranked meta. Games move fast, third parties are constant, and many fights are decided inside buildings or around tight player - created cover. I think your close-range priority order should be something like this:
-
R-99
-
RE-45
-
Alternator
-
Prowler
-
Mozambique
-
Peacekeeper
-
Volt
-
Mastiff
-
EVA-8
R-99 and RE-45 are the aggressive picks. Alternator is the forgiving and more flexible choice of the bunch. Shotguns are deadly in the right hands, but Mozam and PK are just way too good compared to the fallen off Mastiff and EVA.
Best Long to Mid-Range Weapons in Apex Legends
Some fights start at a decent range, and you should always have a pokey weapon at hand. Here are the ranged options ranked:
-
Hemlok
-
Wingman
-
Triple Take
-
Nemesis
-
R-301
-
30-30 Repeater
-
Flatline
-
Havoc
-
Longbow
-
Bocek
-
Spitfire
-
Sentinel
-
Rampage
-
Charge Rifle
The balancing is pretty good right now, with almost every gun in the list being playable. The Charge Rifle stays at the bottom for me - it can annoy people and farm damage, but it’s a far cry from what you’d want from a long-range weapon; the damage pattern is too bad to actually run the gun.
