First Sea Leveling Guide
Leveling your character in The First Sea is all about speeding your travel and mob clearing up, and not being distracted by harder tasks like killing bosses and doing unoptimal quest routes and locations. Also, I’d encourage you to always pop a 2x xp code whenever you’re about to start grinding hard. They only last for 20-30 minutes, but these bonuses are nothing to scoff at.
To keep your grind simple and painless, get a nice fruit whenever you can. Light is still one of the best general First Sea fruits for leveling because Elemental fruits are the most efficient early on, and Light gives you faster movement, easy farming, and smooth quest mob clear speed. Here’s the route for you to follow:

If your goal is leveling speed, Bosses in the First Sea are mostly optional. You waste lots of time killing them, and you risk getting one-shot by some of their attacks. The best approach is to stay on quest loops where the giver is standing right near the mob groups, and just pull several of them at the time and AOE them down. Idk if that’s worth mentioning, but quests are repeatable, so just always have one on.
Once you hit level 700, to enter the Second Sea, there are several steps to take:
-
Go to Prison
-
Talk to the Military Detective
-
Defeat the Ice Admiral in Frozen Village
-
Speak to the Experienced Captain in Middle Town to enter the Second Sea.
Second Sea Leveling Guide
The Second Sea is where your build starts to matter much more. Light is still fine here, and Ice is a solid secondary option, but Buddha becomes the best long-term grinding fruit by a wide margin, so I’d say it’s worth wasting some time trying to get it. Second Sea’s raiders are a pain to farm, so I’d recommend you go back to Fountain City and farm Galley Pirates until level 725. After that, follow this route.

Level 1100 is also where raids become your leveling bread and butter because that’s the point where you can host them yourself. Joining opens at 700, but hosting opens at 1100, which makes this the perfect time to start working on awakenings for Tiger, Light, Ice, Magma, or Buddha. If you can awaken Magma at this stage, it becomes one of the strongest grinding fruits for the Second Sea. If you are using Buddha, this is also the point where you should start working towards getting its awakening, even if you still need help clearing the raid.
By the time you finish Forgotten Island and hit level 1500, you are ready to move into the Third Sea. The Third Sea unlock requires level 1500 and completing three quest chains:
-
The Colosseum quest
-
Don Swan quest chain
-
King Red Head’s quest chain
Third Sea Leveling Guide
Third Sea’s grind is longer - the islands are larger, and wasting too much time traversing them could cost you hours of time spent not actually getting your levels up. Buddha V2 stays the best grinding fruit here, with Kitsune and Dragon as the strongest fruit-based alternatives, that is, if you happen to get them by this time. Here is the fastest Third Sea route.

Keep Instinct active while you grind so the mastery builds passively, skip hard side grinds like CDK or Skull Guitar if your only goal is max level, and do Sea Events only if you really need money and fragments, they are not good for leveling.
