Dead by Daylight Killer Tier List 2026

Dead by Daylight now has 40+ playable killers, and ranking them by kill rate alone won’t tell the whole story. In this article, I ranked the current roster by what actually wins trials: chase power, snowball potential, and consistency in real games.

Dead by Daylight Killer Tier List TL;DR

  • Nurse is still my best killer in DBD. Two good Blinks invalidate more of the obstacles than any other power in the game.

  • Blight is the only killer I put beside Nurse in S-tier because five Rush tokens give him elite chase and map pressure.

  • Hillbilly, Dracula, Spirit, Singularity, The First, Ghoul, and Krasue lead a very stacked A-tier.

  • New players should start with Wraith, Mastermind, or Nemesis

C-Tier

This is not a popularity ranking and it is definitely not sorted by raw kill rate. Killer statistics get warped by skill floors, pick rates, DCs, new-player lobbies, and obscure mains who have been one-tricking the same character since the invention of electricity.

I care more about what happens when both sides know how the match works.

Best Killers in Dead by Daylight 2026

Nurse and Blight are 100% the best killers right now, but the order gets much more debatable after them. Actual performance can differ a lot depending on the map and survivor team you’re facing.

1. Nurse - Best Killer in Dead by Daylight

The Nurse is number one. She is slower than a survivor in a straight line with just 3.85 m/s movement speed. That sounds terrible until you remember that she gets two Blinks and does not care about any objects in between you and survivors. Every other killer has to interact with map geometry to some degree, but not her.

The downside is obvious. Nurse has one of the steepest learning curves in DBD. Once Blink muscle memory clicks and you can intuitively guess where your blink will land, the game changes completely. Definitely not a good Killer for newer players.

2. Blight

Blight is the only killer in the game I am comfortable putting in the same tier as Nurse. His base movement speed was reduced to 4.4 m/s, but that barely changes the actual thing that makes him disgustingly overpowered. Blighted Corruption gives him five Rush tokens, which means he can cross the map quickly, bounce around tiles, and immediately turn one hook into pressure somewhere else. The tokens drain quickly per pallet break, sure, but most of the time you won’t have to break that many to get to your target.

My favorite thing about Blight is that his power does two jobs - it wins chase, and it fixes macro all at once. Blight gets a hook, looks at the HUD, and launches himself across the map like it’s nothing. That makes him both very strong at the high skill level and super forgiving for players who are still getting familiar with the game.

3. Hillbilly - Best Free Killer

Hillbilly is the strongest killer you get without spending. His chainsaw lets him fly around the map at roughly 12 m/s, and landing the hit takes a healthy survivor straight to the dying state. That gives Billy both elite mobility and an instadown, which is a combination very few killers can match.

The main reason I keep him below Nurse and Blight is consistency. Billy still has maps where curving becomes much harder, and the difference between an experienced Billy and somebody learning from him can be enormous. But that actually makes him good in a way that you can pick him up easily and then get better over time, which is always fun.

4. Dark Lord

Dracula is one of the hardest killers for me to place because his strength is not concentrated in one mechanic. He has multiple forms for you to choose from:

  • Vampire for Hellfire

  • Wolf for chase and tracking

  • Bat for mobility

The result is a killer with an answer for almost everything. He can zone loops, move around the map quickly, and switch tools on the go depending on what the chase actually needs. He’s pretty hard to pick up in my opinion because you need to know when switching forms is worth it.  But when played properly, though, he has a very high ceiling.

5. Spirit

Spirit has a very unique playstyle going for it. Yamaoka's Haunting sends her up to 7.04 m/s during Phase-Walk, and the power has a 15-second cooldown. She cannot see survivors while phasing, but she can track through sound, grass movement and scratch marks.

Against survivors without perfect coordination, her power creates constant 50/50s. Even strong players can lose because a single wrong decision can cost them. I keep Spirit below Dracula because she has less flexibility and relies more heavily on tracking. She also lowkey needs a good headset to be played correctly, so that’s that.

6. Singularity

Singularity is one of those killers people kind of glance over because most players don’t want to operate a CCTV network instead of just playing DBD. But strong Singularity players with a network setup completely run the map. You’ll need decent map knowledge to even start playing him decently well, but once you've got it down, you’ll have lots of success with him.

7. First

The First is one of the strongest newer killers recently added to the roster with one of the strongest anti-loop kits in the game. His Vine Attacks give him damage and zoning pressure, while Undergate helps him move around the map. You don’t even need to land it every time - Forcing a survivor away from the strong side of a tile can already be enough. They dodge the Vine, lose position, and give you the M1.

8. Ghoul - Best Aggressive Killer

Kagune Leap lets Kaneki close the distance aggressively, reposition, and keep pressure going. Consumed tokens recharge at four seconds each, so bad sequencing can leave you powerless at exactly the wrong moment, although it’s pretty hard to use them so poorly.

He is not as easy as he looks, though; you have to have a lot of things going on in your mind to perform well:

  • Where will the survivor go?

  • What surface can I leap from?

  • Do I spend another token?

  • Can I force them away from the next connected tile?

Against weaker players, Ghoul can feel completely unfair. But good coordinated survivors will be a real challenge that makes you really count your tokens and think thoroughly.

9. Krasue - High-Skill Sleeper Pick

Krasue is one of the strangest killers in the game, which can feel super weird to play at first. In Head Form, Krasue moves at 4.8 m/s, faster than the standard 4.6 m/s killer movement speed. Her kit gives skilled players insane chase potential, but it can also feel clunky if you are swapping forms at bad times or trying to force the power at the wrong tile.

She’s also pretty niche, and niche killers' stats get inflated because their player base consists of dedicated mains. Even official 2026 stats discussions have highlighted Krasue as an example where a small specialist player base can distort the picture by simply playing well at their mains.

My verdict: High A-tier for specialists. Can’t recommend her as a first killer.

10. Oni - Best Snowball Killer

Oni is my last top-ten pick because no killer in the game changes the pace of a match faster once he gets rolling. His weakness is the early game, but once the Blood Fury activates, the match is often times over. You get:

  • Demon Dash mobility

  • Instant-down Demon Strike

  • Massive slugging potential

  • Incredible multi-down snowball potential

One bad survivor rotation can turn into two people on the floor before anyone understands what happened. But you have to somehow get the snowball rolling first.

Best Killers for Beginners

Best Killers for Beginners in DBD

Some of the Killers are way better for beginners - they have an easy kit that lets you learn macro while still performing decently well. My beginner picks are:

Killer

Difficulty

Why

Wraith

Easy

Teaches macro and M1 chase

Mastermind

Medium

High power without complicated mechanics

Nemesis

Medium

Simple anti-loop progression

Doctor

Easy

Helps find survivors

Huntress

Medium

Teaches ranged prediction

Plague

Medium

Good healing denial

Wraith is the best beginner killer for me. Her game loop is simple, which lets her focus on learning the maps and survivor rotations. Once you get the basics down, Mastermind is another well-rounded option with better map traversal and zoning abilities.
