Dota 2 Hero Tier List July 2026 - Patch 7.41d

Dota’s hero balance is in a constant development cycle, adding and removing stuff with every patch. In this article, I’ve assembled a hero tier list for the current patch, separated for each role and based on high-MMR stats and general pub value and reliability.

Dota 2 Hero Tier List TL;DR

  • Spectre and Lifestealer are the most reliable Position 1 picks of the current meta.

  • Keeper of the Light and Snapfire lead the current mid pool.

  • Night Stalker is my best choice recommendation for a mobile and tanky initiating offlaner.

  • Bounty Hunter dominates Position 4 when the draft can get Track kills.

  • Treant Protector and Undying are the safest Position 5 choices.

  • The list is built for ranked pubs rather than professional captain drafts.

Complete Dota 2 Tier List by Position

These rankings are based on Dota2ProTracker’s last eight days of 7,000–8,500 MMR matches and my own experience and opinion. If the stats are good, but the character needs a very specific draft to perform, it automatically makes the stats a bit unrealistic.  A 61% win rate from 400 Visage games does not automatically make him a better option than a hero holding 53% across several thousand matches - cracked specialists inflate the numbers.

Dota 2 Carry Tier List – Position 1

Dota 2 Carry Tier List

Position 1 currently rewards carries that can survive laning pressure and contribute to the team fights before reaching six items. Spectre, Lifestealer, Phantom Lancer, Faceless Void, Necrophos, and Juggernaut lead the current high-MMR carry rating due to their tempo kits that let them take fights confidently in every stage of the game.

Tier

Carry Heroes

S-Tier

Spectre, Lifestealer, Phantom Lancer, Faceless Void, Necrophos, Juggernaut

A-Tier

Drow Ranger, Windranger, Wraith King, Morphling, Slark, Sven, Ursa, Chaos Knight, Luna, Monkey King

B-Tier

Razor, Troll Warlord, Terrorblade, Tiny, Gyrocopter, Medusa, Muerta, Naga Siren, Bloodseeker, Weaver, Kez

C-Tier

Phantom Assassin, Anti-Mage, Alchemist, Clinkz, Riki, Templar Assassin, Broodmother, Lone Druid

Spectre is my default Position 1 recommendation of the current meta because she can contribute without abandoning her creep farm. Her global initiation lets her finish a wave, join a fight right on an isolated support or a low-health core, and return to farming without any downtime. The important part is that Spectre does not need to win the lane by three thousand net worth. She needs enough space to reach her first slot while her team gives her targets worth killing. She currently has around a 53% carry win rate across more than 7,000 recent high-MMR games, giving her both strong results and a meaningful sample size. The character is simply solid, and it’s been good forever.

Lifestealer is the ultimate choice when the enemy draft has heavy magical damage or several high-Health frontliners. Rage lets him commit to fights with a built-in BKB. Feast keeps him healthy while attacking Strength heroes, and Infest gives him either an initiation tool or a way to escape an unfortunate fight. Pairing him with a mobile initiator also creates a direct damage delivery system straight into the enemy backline. He’s also an Armlet user, which is a huge pro for me; I just love the Armlet-oriented playstyle. Against the right draft and with decent mechanics, you can become invincible with this hero.

Phantom Lancer is super hard to stop once he gets going; he’s the kind of character that can win the game at the drafting stage. Diffusal Blade gives him an early power spike against mana-dependent heroes, while Manta Style removes silences and creates enough illusions to obscure the real hero. Build him up with enough tankiness, and you’ll get an army of near-unkillable copies that will make your enemies' day harder.

Faceless Void still earns S-Tier through Chronosphere alone, even though his other abilities are also decent. Few carry ultimates can decide the outcome of a fight the way his does. The only downside of the character is execution. A poor Chronosphere can block your own teammates in place for enemies to kill; there’s a big deal of game sense involved in every ultimate you press.

Carry Necrophos works when the enemy lineup wants to play longer fights and relies on large Health pools. Heartstopper Aura chips away at durable heroes, making them die faster than you’d expect. Death Pulse sustains him through lane trades and clustered fights, and Reaper’s Scythe can decide the outcome of the game when used right.

Juggernaut is the least complicated S-Tier carry everyone needs to add to their ranked hero pool. He’s just as efficient during laning as during mid and late stages, and with the right build he can rival hypercarries like Spectre and Anti-Mage at the very late stages of the game. His ceiling is lower against summons and illusions due to how his Omnislash works. In regular ranked games, though, the reliable lane and straightforward item progression make him a solid carry option.

Dota 2 Mid Tier List – Position 2

Dota 2 Mid Tier List

Opressive heroes like Keeper of the Light and Visage currently lead the high-MMR mid rating. KotL and Snapfire have the strongest combination of win rate and useful sample size, and Marci and Visage are more specialist-heavy, but definitely worth learning.

Tier

Mid Heroes

S-Tier

Keeper of the Light, Snapfire, Invoker, Earth Spirit, Marci, Visage

A-Tier

Puck, Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, Queen of Pain, Pangolier, Leshrac, Monkey King, Lina, Void Spirit, Primal Beast, Batrider, Broodmother

B-Tier

Zeus, Tiny, Shadow Fiend, Death Prophet, Kunkka, Necrophos, Dragon Knight, Sand King, Windranger, Pugna, Huskar, Meepo, Kez

C-Tier

Outworld Destroyer, Viper, Sniper, Arc Warden, Alchemist, Rubick, Magnus, Lone Druid

Keeper of the Light takes control of the game through wave clear, making his opponent's life hard and pushing him under the tower constantly.  Illuminate can clear the mid wave and damage a nearby jungle camp from a completely safe position. That lets KotL accelerate his farm without leaving the mid tower exposed. Once he gets his items, he starts pushing the entire map, being an elusive force that keeps your team on their toes at all times.

Snapfire has a defined tempo kit that lets her stay relevant at all times. Scatterblast and Firesnap Cookie give her great solo kill potential during the lane. Lil’ Shredder adds single-target damage and building pressure once she has levels into it. She can also adjust her item build around the draft. Aghanim’s Scepter adds initiation and saves to her kit, Gleipnir provides a much-needed catch, and conventional spell scaling items support a more spell-focused setup.

Invoker remains S-tier throughout the years because he can solve more draft problems with his extensive kit than most mid heroes. You do everything, essentially, from initiation to split pushing; it’s just a matter of understanding your kit and when to do what exactly. Even after being hit with some nerfs to his CDs' durations, he’s still a menace with strong winrate and great MMR yield for those ready to invest their time into mastering him.

Earth Spirit has definitely more than earned his spot, with great fundamental capabilities like reliable stuns and silences, and more than decent damage to boot. A good Earth Spirit runs the map like few other characters could.

You kind of wouldn’t expect this, but Marci is really good at punishing ranged mids that cannot handle direct damage. Rebound gives her an immediate way to close distance, while Dispose can pull an opponent away from their tower or into an allied creep stack during the laning phase. The trade-off is that the heroes that repeatedly shove the wave and refuse to interact directly can force Marci to spend more resources just to secure farm.

Visage has the highest raw win rate among the leading mids, sitting above 60%, but that result comes from only a few hundred recent matches. A cracked Visage is a threat, having both the solo kill potential and high tower damage with her Familiars. The hero requires Familiar control, and an understanding of when to stop farming heroes and start removing buildings. I rank him in S-Tier for raw power.

Dota 2 Offlane Tier List – Position 3

Dota 2 Offlane Tier List

The leading offlaners can threaten kills without relying on a farmed Position 4 and provide their teams with enough initiation and tankiness after the lane. Night Stalker, Enigma, Pudge, Visage, Axe, and Winter Wyvern currently deserve the highest role ratings.

Tier

Offlane Heroes

S-Tier

Night Stalker, Enigma, Pudge, Visage, Axe, Winter Wyvern

A-Tier

Dawnbreaker, Dark Seer, Doom, Tidehunter, Primal Beast, Beastmaster, Centaur Warrunner, Sand King, Magnus, Underlord, Slardar, Timbersaw

B-Tier

Mars, Legion Commander, Brewmaster, Dragon Knight, Kunkka, Bristleback, Pangolier, Lycan, Broodmother, Venomancer, Razor, Wraith King

C-Tier

Omniknight, Abaddon, Necrophos, Death Prophet, Viper, Huskar, Phoenix, Chaos Knight

Night Stalker gives an offlane draft three tools it often lacks: flying high ground vision during Dark Ascension, an AoE silence through Crippling Fear, and super fast movement speed to initiate fights or make enemies react with tps then disengage. He is especially useful against casters that rely on mobility spells to escape the fight. Crippling Fear removes that tool from them completely while Night Stalker remains on top of the target. Dark Ascension also removes much of the vision advantage the enemy team might have from defending high ground. Night Stalker can see over trees and cliffs while the enemy team sees only the immediate area around its heroes, which is definitely an ability to be reckoned with.

Enigma’s Black Hole is the epitome of Dota’s teamfight-winning ultimate; I don’t think it’s even worth talking too much about, you know how devastating it is. Besides that, during the lane stage Demonic Conversion helps deny ranged creeps, secures lane control, and produces powerful units for pushing towers and harassing enemies. Well-placed Midnight Pulse wins fights virtually on its own. Enigma is an etalon pick that every 3rd pos player should know how to play.

Axe is the gold standard for initiators in this game. Blink Dagger into Berserker’s Call gives the team an obvious target and forces affected enemies to attack into Counter Helix. Blademail adds another layer of punishment into the equation. His lane phase is also extremely strong with how disruptive he is to a normal lane flow. Axe currently has a lower win rate than Night Stalker or Enigma, but in the right hands he is a reliable ranked pick.

Offlane Pudge works extremely well when he contests the lane with Rot and Flesh Heap paired with a good supp. Rot is invaluable for last hitting and damage trading, and Flesh Heap gets him to absurd HP values once stacked. If laning goes well, fast Blink Dagger turns him into one of the best initiators in the game with his ultimate locking enemies in place and Blink + Hook fatally misplacing enemies.

Offlane Visage is a bit different in how it’s played, but the idea is similar. His Familiars create repeatable stuns across large spaces, locking enemies in place. They’re also used to scout dangerous spots and split-push towers. The biggest drawback is that you’re losing a fair deal of takiness most other 3 pos heros provide.

Winter Wyvern’s current offlane win rate is extremely high, but she’s a very rare sight. She earns S-Tier as a counterpick rather than a blind opener. Arctic Burn lets her attack high-Health heroes from range, Cold Embrace stops physical burst, and Winter’s Curse turns right-click carries against nearby teammates. She is strongest against lineups that rely on physical damage. She is much less potent when the team still needs a conventional frontliner or the enemy damage is primarily magical.

Dota 2 Soft Support Tier List – Position 4

Dota 2 Soft Support Tier List

Position 4 currently favors supports that can start action and make plays without buying several expensive items. There’s a bunch of very different playstyles you may adapt with this position - Bounty Hunter leads the role by a big margin, followed by Nyx Assassin, Zeus, Undying, Spirit Breaker, and Clockwerk.

Tier

Position 4 Heroes

S-Tier

Bounty Hunter, Nyx Assassin, Zeus, Undying, Spirit Breaker, Clockwerk

A-Tier

Earth Spirit, Rubick, Hoodwink, Snapfire, Dark Willow, Tusk, Mirana, Ringmaster, Pugna, Shadow Demon, Phoenix, Techies, Weaver

B-Tier

Lion, Tiny, Marci, Muerta, Jakiro, Lina, Winter Wyvern, Venomancer, Skywrath Mage, Pudge, Batrider, Grimstroke, Disruptor

C-Tier

Silencer, Riki, Sniper, Gyrocopter, Crystal Maiden, Witch Doctor, Largo

Bounty Hunter currently has around a 57% Position 4 win rate across thousands of matches. Track’s bonus gold is the reason those wins can snowball so quickly. A successful Bounty Hunter rotation gives the team a kill, extra Track gold, vision of retreating targets, and extra movement speed for continuing the chase.

Nyx becomes more valuable as the enemy draft reveals mana-dependent Intelligence heroes and predictable, easy-to-counter AoE spells. You run around the map all game in your Vendetta gathering information and harassing squishies, and that alone sounds pretty good, but you’re also super valuable in teamfights with your AOE stuns. You’re an annoying bug that makes the enemy team spend more money and waste their time chasing you, and that’s a perfectly viable playstyle for a 4th pos player.

Support Zeus contributes lots of damage to the team, but his real advantage is information he can continuously gather. Lightning Bolt reveals wards, invisible units, and high-ground areas without you spending money or risking anything but mana. Thundergod’s Wrath exposes every living enemy hero, preventing low-Health targets from running away into fog after a fight. He fits drafts that already have stuns and frontline heroes perfectly, but is weaker when the team expects its Position 4 to start fights or save an initiated core.

Undying is picked as a Position 4 when the offlaner needs help turning the lane into a constant close-range fight fest. Decay is outstanding during the lane stage, and a well-used Tombstone is a threat throughout the game. Pos 3 characters like Slardar, Axe, and Centaur can use the extra Health swing and zombies to extend damage trades into picks.

Charge of Darkness lets Spirit Breaker join fights across the map and initiate chases that are otherwise impossible. Charge reveals the target, gives the team advance warning that initiation is coming, and allows Spirit Breaker to convert a distant skirmish into a temporary numbers advantage. His lane is not always dominant, but his ability to affect two lanes in quick succession gives him more recovery options than a support locked to one side of the map.

Clockwerk does not even need a Blink Dagger to reach a squishy hiding behind two tanks. Hookshot crosses the frontline, Battery Assault prevents isolated heroes from casting cleanly, and Power Cogs separate the target from nearby help. Rocket Flare also gives constant vision on any range.

Dota 2 Hard Support Tier List – Position 5

Dota 2 Hard Support Tier List

Treant Protector, Undying, Winter Wyvern, Bounty Hunter, Zeus, and Lich currently lead the raw Position 5 rating. I moved Bounty Hunter and Zeus into A-Tier because their damage and vision do not replace the lane protection or defensive saves most drafts expect from a hard support.

Tier

Position 5 Heroes

S-Tier

Treant Protector, Undying, Winter Wyvern, Lich, Oracle, Bane

A-Tier

Bounty Hunter, Zeus, Shadow Demon, Chen, Jakiro, Disruptor, Ringmaster, Dazzle, Abaddon, Phoenix, Warlock, Witch Doctor

B-Tier

Crystal Maiden, Lion, Ancient Apparition, Ogre Magi, Keeper of the Light, Enchantress, Omniknight, Grimstroke, Vengeful Spirit, Pugna, Io, Largo, Silencer

C-Tier

Hoodwink, Techies, Mirana, Dark Willow, Muerta, Snapfire, Tusk, Marci

Treant Protector gives the team a very strong lane presence with his high base damage, global protection, vision control, and a teamfight root ultimate that’s really valuable even with no investments into the build. His high base damage makes early trades meaningful. Living Armor can protect a carry in another lane or delay tower damage while Treant remains elsewhere on the map. His win rate stats are looking great at the time, and I’m sure there’s no person playing Dota that would be mad seeing a teammate picking Treant, ever.

Position 5 Undying is built around preventing the enemy offlaner from taking any trades.  Repeated Decay casts lower Strength and maximum Health to minuscule amounts, allowing the carry to contest heroes that would otherwise win through raw stats. Tombstone controls long engagements and forces the enemy to choose between hitting heroes and removing the zombie's source, which is crazy value for a hard support.

Winter Wyvern’s Cold Embrace is one of the strongest answers to physical burst; this spell alone shuts down physical comps lots of the time. The ultimate is insane too, sometimes killing the enemy core outright while keeping other heroes stuck in place fighting their allies.

Lich is the common recommendation for players who want to learn one dependable hard support that’ll do a lot of jobs at once. Frost Blast secures creeps and wins early trades. Chain Frost deals so much damage when pressed right, you can sometimes take out enemies all on your own.

Oracle’s value comes from his dispels and heals. He’s a saving GOAT - Fortune’s End dispels enemies or removes negative effects from allies. Fate’s Edict blocks magical damage but also disarms the target, so it must be used around the incoming damage type. His ultimate, False Promise, delays all healing and damage taken by the target. This hero currently holds around a 53% overall high-MMR win rate, with most of his games played as Position 5.

Bane is the S-Tier choice when one enemy hero must be prevented from playing the fight. Nightmare removes a target temporarily and can interrupt channeling or protect an ally from an incoming attack. Fiend’s Grip then supplies a long-duration disable capable of locking down a farmed carry for an entire teamfight. Enfeeble is a nasty spell to be hit with during laning, too, and Bane’s base stats are a deciding factor during early lane exchanges.
