Dragon Ball Legends Characters Tier List

With more than 600 playable characters, more than 1000 variations, and a constantly shifting meta, it can be hard to pick characters in Dragon Ball Legends. As a fun fact, this game even set a Guinness World Record with 676 playable characters back on January 26, 2026, and its roster continues to expand regularly with new updates. Especially for new players, it’s hard not to get confused. Thankfully, there’s never a shortage of useful tier lists and videos on the internet, and this one is one of them! I ranked the best characters to play in Dragon Ball Legends and put them into tiers from Z+ (best of the best) all the way down to B tier, where no-meta characters are. Let’s get to it.

Z+ Tier Characters - The Best Dragon Ball Legends Characters

These Dragon Ball Legends characters are at the top of their game. They define the meta and dominate every battle. Legend Super Vegito, which was added to the game on February 11, 2026, is one of the recent standouts and the first character of the newest LR rarity. LR characters will have higher stats, unique animations, and actions. Players in one of the Reddit posts shared their honest opinions on Legend Super Vegito, and mostly agreed that this character, while being really strong, is pretty balanced overall. They especially appreciated animations, crazy damage, and one of the users said Legend Super Vegito gimmicks are not that toxic compared to some others, and I personally agree with that. But here are all the top-tier Dragon Ball Legends characters:

Z Tier Characters

Characters of this tier are also very strong, but while Z+ ones define the meta, Z characters try to catch up to it, and they’re doing a great job with that. And to not create any confusion, Z tier characters are still in the meta, but they are just a bit weaker than the ones in Z+ tier. At the top of my Z tier list of Dragon Ball Legends characters is Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. His ULTRA (RED) and newer Legends Limited (LL) versions are dominating the meta. They bring massive offensive abilities with ULTRA (RED) stats being: 

• Strike ATK: around 264,000+

• Blast ATK: around 261,000+

And Legends Limited version stats are a little below, but it compensates with strong Z-Ability:

• Strike ATK: ~258,000+

• Blast ATK: ~252,000+

• Z-Ability (IV): Boosts Base Strike Attack & Defense by 38% for "Son Family", "Hybrid Saiyan", or "Cell Saga (Z)" tags.

Overall Z tier list is a bit smaller at this moment, but all characters in it totally deserve their place:

S Tier Characters

S-tier characters in Dragon Ball Legends are good, but not the best. Most of them are in the meta, and stats are usually good, but they have some downsides that bring them down to S tier rather than the top tier. Don’t get me wrong, as a core member of your team, they’ll all do their job very well, but having ones from Z+ or Z tier can elevate your team to a whole new level. But going back to S tier, I did put Super Saiyan God Goku to the top because, while not game-breaking, it is a very viable unit. His main highlights are:

• Vanish Restoration: Landing his Green Card restores your Vanishing Gauge by 60%. This is fantastic for outplaying opponents.

• Disruption: He excels at destroying enemy cards, canceling buffs, and disrupting combos, allowing you to control the pacing of the match. 

• Unique Gauge: Once his gauge is full, using Strike or Blast cards gives him extra damage, card draw speed, and element neutrality.

As for the downsides, I’d like to point out how star-dependent, which means that he can feel a bit underwhelming at lower limit breaks (stars) and really shines best at 6+ stars in higher-tier PvP. Also, he can be easily outplated by some of the strongest characters from Z+ and Z tiers. Here’s a full list of all S-tier characters.

A Tier Characters

A-tier characters are like stuck in the middle. They’re not bad, but not that good either. Some of them were ever considered to be meta at some point, but not anymore. For example, Demon King Piccolo dominated because he was a RED powerhouse crushing Yellow characters, but when Legends Limited Super Saiyan God Goku (PUR) came out, it took its place in the meta. This is how it usually goes in DBL. Here are all A tier characters:
