Best Survivor Builds in DBD 2026
This guide is updated for the live version of Dead by Daylight. Shane Wiigwaas and his new Survivor perks are included, although most of the strongest builds rely on established perks rather than throwing four new toys together and hoping for the best.
I am also not ranking builds by escape rate alone - it gets affected by matchmaking, sweaty premades, and inexperienced players who equip a full chase build before going down beside the first generator.

What I care about the most is whether each build has a defined job and whether its perks support one another during a normal trial. You most reliably win games by running a balanced team where each player does a specific job.
1. Balanced Meta Build - Best Survivor Build Overall
This is my best versatile all-purpose Survivor build because every perk covers a different part of the match that you may want to do depending on the situation:
-
Lithe - Turns one medium or fast vault into three seconds of 50% Haste, giving you enough distance to reach another tile instead of dying beside the window you just used.
-
Windows of Opportunity - shows nearby pallets and windows, which helps you plan a chase before the Killer is already breathing down your neck.
-
Deja Vu - reveals the three generators positioned closest together and gives you a 6% repair-speed bonus while working on one of them. That directs you toward generators that could create an ugly three-gen later.
-
Decisive Strike - takes the last slot as anti-tunnel protection. After you are unhooked, it can punish the Killer for picking you up again right after with a four-second stun, provided you have not disabled it by performing a Conspicuous Action.
2. Solo Queue Build
Solo queue needs information more than anything - since you usually don’t get communicating players, all info should be gathered by yourself. The perks are:
-
Sprint Burst
-
Kindred
-
Deja Vu
-
We’ll Make It
Kindred is the centerpiece. When another Survivor is hooked, it shows you the other Survivors and can reveal the Killer near the hook. When you are hooked, everyone else receives that information. This usually stops three teammates from abandoning their generators for your rescue, or nobody moving because they all assume someone else will handle it.
We’ll Make It completes the support side. After an unhook, its healing-speed bonus lets you patch up the rescued Survivor before the Killer returns, assuming they do not sprint across the map while dropping a trail of blood for artistic reasons. Sprint Burst belongs to Meg Thomas, while Kindred, Deja Vu, and We’ll Make It are general perks, so you do not need a pile of paid characters to assemble it.
3. Chase Build
This build is for players who want to keep the Killer occupied without relying on Dead Hard timing:
-
Lithe
-
Windows of Opportunity
-
Finesse
-
Resilience
Once you become injured, Resilience takes over. Its action-speed bonus improves vaulting alongside several other actions. You lose Finesse while injured, but Resilience means the build does not stop functioning after one hit.
The four perks are also one of the most common Finesse combinations in NightLight’s community submissions since patch 10.0.1. For a good reason, too. The perks are not fighting over the same trigger so you stay mobile at all times. I have to point out the downside - this build provides almost nothing against tunneling or slugging. You are betting solely on your chase skills.
4. Anti-Tunnel Build
Anti-tunnel is the build I would use when you really want to focus on escaping the Killer at all costs and distract him as much as possible all by yourself.
-
Decisive Strike
-
Off the Record
-
Resurgence
-
Dead Hard
Off the Record activates after an unhook and gives you Endurance, quieter grunts of pain, and protection from aura reading for up to 40 seconds at Tier III. Resurgence immediately gives you 70% healing progress after being unhooked, so another Survivor only needs to finish the remaining portion.
Decisive Strike punishes a fast pickup with a four-second stun. Dead Hard gives you another possible hit after you have been unhooked, although its 0.5-second Endurance window means you still need to predict the Killer’s attack rather than pressing it during your next birthday. The build is intentionally excessive on being super unkillable. Off the Record and Dead Hard effects can overlap at times, and carrying four defensive perks means you have no generator information or pallet tracking. But the upside is that against a killer that refuses to leave you alone, it can waste an enormous amount of their time.
5. Generator Build
This is one of the few generator builds I still find worth dedicating all four slots to. Patch 9.6 introduced diminishing returns when several modifiers repeatedly increase the same action speed, and the perks we’re using in this build all work through different systems:
-
Hyperfocus
-
Stake Out
-
Deja Vu
-
Built to Last
Hyperfocus rewards consecutive Great Skill Checks with tokens. Each token increases the frequency and speed of later Skill Checks while improving the progression bonus from landing them. Bear in mind that Hyperfocus is only as good as your Skill Checks. Miss one while carrying six tokens and the entire machine falls apart, which I think is very on-brand for DBD generators.
6. Healing Support Build
If you enjoy the support role in DBD, this is my preferred healer build because it does more than simply reducing healing time.
-
We’ll Make It
-
Empathy
-
Reassurance
-
Aftercare
Empathy helps you locate injured teammates across the map. We’ll Make It gives you a major healing boost after performing a safe unhook, and Reassurance buys extra time when the Killer is camping near a hooked Survivor, and an immediate rescue would just create another down.
I prefer this setup over piling several healing-speed perks into one loadout. With diminishing returns now reducing the value of stacking multiple action-speed modifiers, one strong healing perk combined with information and rescue utility is far more practical. You still need to keep your mind on several things at once and use some judgment. Running across the entire map to heal somebody who is already beside another teammate wastes more time than it saves.
7. Flashlight Save Build
If you enjoy pressuring the killer more than anything else, this build is for you. Make sure to use Flashlight with duration add-ons and these skills:
-
Background Player - movement burst needed to reach the Killer during a pickup animation.
-
Champion of Light
-
Bond
-
Flashbang - backup save after the flashlight runs out, or when the Killer keeps facing walls because they have encountered this build approximately 900 times.
Do not follow the chased Survivor from two meters away waiting for them to fall. That turns one player doing generators into zero players doing generators, and most Killers will hear you jogging around anyway.
8. Pallet Chase Build
Five Moves Ahead is one of the strongest newer chase perks, so we’re going to take full advantage of it in this build:
-
Five Moves Ahead
-
Lithe
-
Finesse
-
Wide Open Throttle
While you are inside the Killer’s Terror Radius or already being chased, it reveals the five nearest pallets or windows. It also helps you start moving sooner after dropping a pallet. Finesse improves your fast vault while healthy, and Lithe converts a rushed vault into a burst of distance.
Wide Open Throttle is the new Shane Wiigwaas perk added in patch 10.0.1. Fast-vaulting a pallet gives you up to 15% Haste for three seconds. The pallet is then reset and blocked for 60 seconds, with its aura shown to Survivors during that period. The perk itself also has a 60-second cooldown. This build is incredibly fun on pallet-heavy maps.
9. Stealth and Chase Reset Build
If you like being hard to track, this is the best build we got. You can do all kinds of shenanigans and distraction maneuvers with this build:
-
Iron Will - reduces your grunts of pain
-
Lucky Break - hides the blood and scratch marks you would normally leave while injured
-
Quick & Quiet - silences a rushed vault or locker entry
-
Lightweight - makes your remaining scratch marks harder to follow
Do not use the build to simply stay hidden all game - you’re here to waste as much of Killer’s time as possible with your resets.
10. Endgame Build
If you’re an experienced survivor, this is the greediest build on the list since all four perks are focused on the final stage of the trial. Perks:
-
Adrenaline - heals you by one Health State and gives you a speed boost when the exit gates become powered.
-
Hope - additional movement speed during the endgame, making already-good tiles much harder for standard movement-speed Killers to handle.
-
Wake Up! - shows exit gate locations and helps you open one faster.
-
No One Left Behind - supports late rescues and healing once the gates are available.
I would only use the full build in a coordinated group or when you specifically enjoy rescues-oriented playstyle. For normal solo play matches, Adrenaline alone is the easiest perk to replace.
Best Survivor Builds for Beginners

As a beginner, you need perks that show you what is happening and help you recover from bad positioning you’ll probably get into:
|
Build |
Perks |
Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
|
Best Free Build |
Sprint Burst, Kindred, Deja Vu, We’ll Make It |
Covers chases, generators, rescues, and healing all in one build |
|
Beginner Chase Build |
Lithe, Windows of Opportunity, Deja Vu, Alert |
Shows tiles, creates distance, and tracks the Killer to make the movement easier |
|
Beginner Support Build |
Kindred, Bond, We’ll Make It, Deja Vu |
Gives lots of team information |
|
Beginner Survival Build |
Sprint Burst, Resurgence, Kindred, Windows of Opportunity |
Helps after unhooks and prevents dead-zone chases |
Do not become dependent on Windows forever, though. Pay attention to the layouts while using it. I’d recommend you learn the maps yourself and eventually stop relying on perks like this.
