When the Next Season of Fortnite Starts

Chapter 7 came in blazing - season 1 brought tons of gameplay changes, map rehaul, and new wild collab skins. To name a few, we got Kill Bill collab with a sick chapter 7 teaser trailer and a huge South Park - themed event with a mini pass, event-exclusive items, and dedicated POI. The main story was somewhat interesting, too, with Voyager making a comeback and plotting the restoration of Zero Point. But with the honeymoon phase ending, players start looking for new things to come to the game.

Season 1 was predicted to last around 90 days, from November 29 to March 4, 2026, based on the end dates of the Battle Pass and missions. However, the date when the next season of Fortnite starts was recently postponed to March 19th, 2026, making it the longest season in recent years, lasting 111 days. Here’s a list of the longest seasons in Fortnite:

  1. Chapter 2 Season 1 (New World) - 127 days

  2. Chapter 2 Season 2 (Top Secret) 118 days

  3. Chapter 7 Season 1 (Reclamation) - 111 days

That elongated schedule naturally makes people guess what will the next Fortnite season be, and there’s quite a lot of info that’s been leaked so far. The reason for the delay is unclear, allegedly due to technical performance-related issues. I’ve personally encountered a wild bug in C7S1 where all of my quests became untrackable, and mini battle pass rewards were completely unclaimable. Fortnite Next Season Leaks

Fortnite chapters and seasons usually have a design narrative that carries across gameplay, quests, and events. While official details about Chapter 7 Season 2 are scarce, Fortnite's next season leaks and datamines offer many hints about what might be in store.

Rumors suggest Fortnite might embrace a Norse or Nordic theme for the next season, drawing influence from mythological aesthetics and elements. Many of the skins that could be released this season have been revealed on the official Fortnite player survey. Concept arts of outfits inspired by Ratatoskr, Fenrir, and Odin’s raven have been made publicly available, and survey skins usually make it to the game rather sooner than later.

As for the gameplay, we already had a Greek mythology season, so it’s reasonable to expect that we’ll get the same treatment. New Norse-themed POIs, weapons, legendaries, and skins are what the season should present. Another exciting thing we might get is the return of the highly sought-after Kratos skin. However, it’s worth noting that the next season could also be Gala-themed, with some of the biggest Fortnite YouTubers hinting at next season's Battle Pass skins being extremely slay. There were several gala-themed outfits featured in the past surveys.

One of the biggest hooks of any Fortnite season is the Battle Pass. This seasonal progression gives players tons of exclusive cosmetic items tied to collaborations or storylines presented in the season. Considering the popularity of past Battle Passes, expectations for the next Battle Pass in Fortnite are always high. Some of these are backed up by datamines, some aren’t, but in 2026, these are the most anticipated collabs:

  • One Piece characters like Monkey D. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami are tipped for arrival as part of a major anime crossover. We’ve got all the other major anime titles available, so it should be a matter of time before we get these iconic pirates.

  • Overwatch icons like Tracer and Mercy could be part of a thematic collaboration.

  • Solo Leveling’s Sung Jin-Woo might make a huge splash as a reactive skin.

  • Chainsaw Man characters and variants are also said to be on the schedule.

  • Looney Tunes skins like Bugs and Lola Bunny have shown up as future possibilities.
