TBC Jewelcrafting TL;DR
-
Jewelcrafting in TBC is all about prospecting ore, cutting gems, and crafting jewelry.
-
Outland prospecting is especially strong due to a steady, uncommon gems drop chance and occasional rare gem jackpots.
-
Jewelry crafting has limited early value. Figurine – Nightseye Panther is the standout early item.
-
Always adapt your 300–375 leveling track based on Auction House prices and available recipes.
-
Not every ore is worth prospecting. Profit depends entirely on the server economy.
-
Master Jewelcrafting is trained in Hellfire Peninsula, Shattrath, or Netherstorm.
-
Jewelcrafting stays profitable throughout all expansions due to constant demand for gems and cuts.

How Jewelcrafting Works in TBC
TBC’s professions are not as complicated as the Retail ones, and Jewelcrafting is not an exception. As a jewelcrafter, you’re going to be doing 3 things:
-
Prospect ore into gems
-
Cut gems to get specific-statted gems
-
Craft jewelry items to level up your skill and maybe fill niche AH markets
Prospecting is the main engine of your profession. It’s essentially gambling - you trade 5 ores for a chance at rare gems. In Outland, this is especially important because you can pull uncommon gems needed for leveling and early gearing phases, and occasional rare gems for big profit.
Jewelry item crafting is gimmicky early in the TBC. The only really valuable item available early on is Figurine - Nightseye Panther, which is in demand for Rogue players. Other than that, crafted items are almost completely useless.
TBC Anniversary Jewelcrafting Leveling 1-300
Even though jewelcrafting was added in TBC, before you get the ability to craft Outlands-specific recipes, you’ll have to get your jewelcrafting to level 300 using Classic era mats. Here is the fastest way to level Jewelcrafting in WoW TBC:

Jewelcrafting 300-375 WoW TBC Classic
After getting to Jewelcrafting 300, your options widen up a lot. Which gems are worth cutting and which recipes are worth doing to level up depend on your current server’s prices and what resources and recipes you actually happen to get. Here’s a general way of how you should level Jewelcrafting 300-375 in WoW TBC Classic:
|

What You Craft |
How Many |
What You Need |
|---|---|---|---|

300–320 |

Any mix of Blood Garnet, Shadow Draenite, Flame Spessarite, Deep Peridot, Azure Moonstone, Golden Draenite |
|
320–325 |

|

That’s a recommended way of how to level Jewelcrafting fast in TBC Anniversary. Decide which gems are worth cutting by checking AH prices and based on what you get your hands on during leveling.
TBC Classic Jewelcrafting Prospecting Guide
What brings a lot of players to Jewelcrafting is the potential of profiting doing prospecting. Turning a cheap rock into a 50g gem is a thrill only a few wouldn’t want to chase. I’ve prepared a handy table containing everything you need to know about TBC Classic Jewelcrafting prospecting:
|

Large sample results show that Adamantite Dust/Powder effectively affects every prospect. |
Keep in mind that not every Ore is worth prospecting, and everything comes down to your server’s AH situation. It’s a hassle, of course, but the fact that this mechanic is driven by the market makes Prospecting exciting and profitable when done right.
