Diablo 4 Deathtoll Chambers Guide TL;DR
-
Deathtoll Chamber is a new Season 14 mini-dungeon tied to Pandemonium Ruptures, Realmwalkers, and Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix.
-
You can enter a Deathtoll Chamber after defeating a Realmwalker or through a Nightmare Dungeon with the Rupture affix after closing enough Tears.
-
The activity is a one-room combat encounter, so expect a tense arena fight than a full dungeon crawl.
-
Deathtoll Chamber is one of the best sources of Superior Lair Keys, which you need to open the Corrupted Reaper’s Hoard in Torment I+.
-
The Corrupted Reaper has the best direct drop chances for Mythic Uniques and Pandemonium Fragments, so Deathtoll Chambers are an essential part of the Season 14 Mythic grind.

-
Beat the Realmwalker.

How to Unlock Deathtoll Chambers in Diablo 4
As of now, there are two confirmed ways to access Deathtoll Chambers in Season 14:
|
Access Method |
How It Works |
|---|---|
|
Realmwalker portal |
Complete the appropriate tier Pandemonium Rupture, defeat the Realmwalker, then enter its portal |
|
Nightmare Dungeon Rupture affix |
Run a Nightmare Dungeon with the Rupture affix and close enough Tears inside Ruptures |
The route you’ll go with the most is through Realmwalkers and the Nightmare Dungeons will be the second. The latter version is the most juicy because it lets you stack normal Nightmare Dungeon value with the seasonal activity instead of running around the overworld all day.
How the Deathtoll Chamber Works
Once you enter the Deathtoll Chamber, you’re thrown into a one-room activity. Since this is a mini-dungeon, the pacing is much faster than a regular dungeon - the mob density is very high. As evident from the PTR review, the chamber is built around a special Rupture activity and Risen enemies. The main mechanic you need to watch out for is the Gravehound and Exarch interaction:
-
Inside the chamber, Gravehounds Risen mobs can spawn.
-
When you kill a Gravehound, it drops an orb.
-
That orb starts moving toward the Exarch, another new special Risen enemy.
-
If the Exarch absorbs the orb, it gains a powerful attack.
-
If you intercept the orb first, you stop that from happening and claim the power yourself.
This mechanic doesn't let you completely go brain-dead and just AoE down everything. If you see an orb floating away, go get it.
Deathtoll Chamber Rewards
The main reason to run Deathtoll Chambers is Superior Lair Keys. These are required to open the Corrupted Reaper’s Hoard in Torment I+.
That matters because the Corrupted Reaper is one of the key Season 14 loot targets. Its Hoard has the best direct drop chances for Mythic Uniques and Pandemonium Fragments, which are used in the new Mythic Unique upgrade system. Here’s the reward chain:
|
Activity |
Reward Purpose |
|---|---|
|
Pandemonium Ruptures |
Seasonal loot, Realmwalker access, Rupture progression |
|
Realmwalker |
Opens portal to Deathtoll Chamber |
|
Deathtoll Chamber |
Best source of Superior Lair Keys |
|
Corrupted Reaper |
Best direct Mythic Unique and Pandemonium Fragment source |
|
Pandemonium Fragments |
Used for Mythic Unique conversion through Horadric Cube |
So Deathtoll Chamber is not just side content. It sits right in the middle of the Season 14 loot treadmill. If your goal is Mythic Uniques, you are going to spend a lot of time here, whether you like the room or not.
Superior Lair Keys Explained
Superior Lair Keys are the main reward you’re chasing from Deathtoll Chambers. You need them to open the Seasonal Lair Boss Hoard from the Corrupted Reaper in Torment I+. The Corrupted Reaper is found at the Pandemonium Threshold entrance in Zarbinzet. After you beat it during the Season Campaign, it becomes available as a repeatable Lair Boss.

This makes Deathtoll Chambers especially important once your build reaches Torment I and starts farming real endgame rewards. Before then, you can learn the activity and build momentum. After Torment I, the keys become part of your Mythic Unique grind.
Deathtoll Chambers and Mythic Uniques
Season 14 changes Mythic Uniques in a big way. Every Unique can now be Mythic, and Mythic is no longer just a separate rarity. It is an item quality that can be found or created.
This is why Deathtoll Chambers matters a lot for getting insane Mythics that will take your build to the next level. The Corrupted Reaper has the best direct drop chances for Mythic Uniques and Pandemonium Fragments, while Deathtoll Chambers yield you the Superior Lair Keys needed to open that reward Hoard.
