TBC Classic Anniversary 1-60 Leveling Guide

From level 1 to 60, the most reliable path is questing with a mix of dungeon runs and smart mobs grinding. Here’s a condensed TBC Classic Anniversary 1-60 leveling guide:

Early levels (1–10) are fairly straightforward and focused on clearing familiar starter zones such as Elwynn Forest for Alliance or Durotar for Horde. Pull and kill every mob you pass on the way between objectives to stack experience, even if quests don’t require those kills. 

As you reach levels 10–20, continue clearing quest hubs like Westfall, Darkshore, Loch Modan, and the Barrens, depending on your faction. Never waste resting time outside or away from town inns - rested experience bonus accumulates to give you a massive XP bonus when killing mobs, and can shave hours off your total playtime.

From levels 20 to 40, stick to the major questing zones that offer easy quest chains and venture into overlapping territories only when quests are fast and efficient. It’s also a great time to combine dungeon trips with quest turns if you have the group and timing. These runs not only give good XP, but also gear upgrades that smooth out your path into mid-levels of your WoW TBC Classic leveling. 

Between levels 40 and 50, you can start running efficient dungeons like Scarlet Monastery and Zul’Farra. Dungeon runs keep exp gain momentum up and reduce time spent standing around waiting for crowded quest mobs. However, both methods are viable, especially if you are struggling with finding a stable dungeon group.

Finally, for levels 50–60, choose an optimized blend of clearing quest hubs and occasional dungeon runs. Prioritize quests that offer multiple goals in the same area to reduce travel time.

By Phase 3, launch-day congestion is no longer the main concern in early Outland. The fastest players know how to take the little advantages during questing, like where they hearth, where they vendor, and how they minimize backtracking. By the end of grinding that leveling path, you’ll not only be max leveled, but you’ll also get several heroic Keys and get close to completing the Karazhan quest chain. If coordinated dungeon spam is not available to you, we’ll cover the mob grind options later in the guide.

Blood Furnace

Head immediately to Honor Hold if you’re Alliance or Thrallmar if you are Horde. These hubs give you quick access to vendors, repairs, and faction services; class training generally requires a return to Azeroth. The first dungeon you should aim for is Blood Furnace. While Hellfire Ramparts is also good, Blood Furnace is much more preferable for optimized TBC Classic Anniversary leveling. The trash in Blood Furnace is designed around players fresh from level 60, which makes full clears fast and lucrative. Do not ignore the shortcut inside the dungeon; learning it early saves minutes on every reset. A full run often nets about 750 reputation, and it takes around a dozen clears to hit Honored with your faction. 

Shattrath City

Collect useful flight paths while traveling from Hellfire Peninsula toward Shattrath. Alliance players should pick up Temple of Telhamat and Telredor, while Horde players should collect Falcon Watch, Swamprat Post, and Zabra’jin when their route passes through those hubs. Set your hearthstone in Shattrath after choosing between Aldor or Scryers. That choice is not just aesthetic; it secures long-term reputation options and access to vendors and their goods.

Outland’s lack of trainers means the fastest TBC Classic Anniversary leveling path includes this loop: clear a few dungeons, hearth to Shattrath, portal to Azeroth to train, then hearth back. Getting this rhythm down early dramatically cuts frustration, especially around the level 62–64 bracket when you begin more repetitive dungeon clears and need constant ability upgrades.

Shattrath also houses banks and vendors that reduce unnecessary backtracking. Setting up here as your operational base lets you focus on dungeon clears and quest pushes without constantly running halfway across Outland.

Slave Pens and Underbog

With Shattrath set as home and level 61 behind you, it’s time to put in dedicated work at Coilfang Reservoir. Slave Pens and Underbog are the next dungeons on the fastest route to level 64. The key to good progression here is clearing everything. Full clears net around 915 reputation, and about ten runs are usually needed to hit Honored. Kill every Wastewalker and related mob before their masters, or you risk them running off and missing experience.

Underbog is straightforward and linear, with a shortcut that reduces reset time. The trash is similar in level spread, and bosses hit 65. While Underbog is slightly less efficient than Slave Pens for experience, it is easier to carry groups through quickly. If your group lacks speed or coordination, Underbog is a solid alternative. Choosing between them often comes down to group familiarity and comfort, but for pure experience and rep gains, Slave Pens is often preferred. 

Mana-Tombs

Around level 64, Mana-Tombs in Terokkar Forest becomes an appropriate next dungeon. Before you enter, pick up the nearby flight path - having a flight path near your current dungeon progression is extra important since running instances is the fastest way to level 60 to 70 in TBC Classic Anniversary.

Mana-Tombs is essentially a corridor with no complicated route. Expect about nine full clears to push reputation toward Honored with the Consortium, which offers several valuable vendor rewards. A big reason to grind this dungeon until you hit level 66 is that it is safe and predictable.

Sethekk Halls and Shadow Labyrinth Key

Around level 67, your next objective is Sethekk Halls. This dungeon offers strong experience and Lower City reputation, while the chest behind Talon King Ikiss contains the Shadow Labyrinth Key.

Karazhan Attunement Begins

At level 68, you can take a short break from pure dungeon grinding to begin the optional Karazhan key quest chain. Start with Apprentice Tasserel in Shattrath’s Lower City, then follow the chain to Archmage Alturus outside Karazhan. Completing the chain remains useful for Karazhan access, but it is no longer required to enter Serpentshrine Cavern or Tempest Keep after Phase 3 opens.

Inside Caverns of Time, stick with your group and complete the introductory quest. Once that is done, enter the next step in our TBC Classic dungeon leveling route - Old Hillsbrad Foothills. This is a unique dungeon with some escort elements, and completing it once gives both experience and reputation with the Keepers of Time. Plan your pulls around bombs and patrols to maintain optimal pace.

After Old Hillsbrad, continue with level-appropriate dungeons until your group is ready for Black Morass, which is designed for level 70 characters. When you enter, assign cooldowns for the portal waves and save Chrono Beacons for difficult late portals. Repeated clears provide Keepers of Time reputation, but you may need to return later for The Master’s Touch after collecting the Karazhan key fragments.

Finishing the Hard Dungeons and Heroic Keys

Shadow Labyrinth is your next dungeon after Black Morass. It contains the first Karazhan key fragment. Fully clearing every room not only yields a strong experience but also the fragment itself. Murmur, the hardest boss, is manageable with coordination and respect for mechanics. A few efficient runs will also bump Lower City reputation toward Revered.

After Shadow Labyrinth, complete Steamvault and then the Shattered Halls key quest chain. Shattered Halls is tougher than earlier instances, but it’s linear enough that groups can push through with proper pacing. Each run nets strong faction gains, and total clears around eight will push you to Revered if not already. By now, at or near level 70, you have multiple heroic keys, and Karazhan progressis  well underway. If you are short of levels, you can continue grinding dungeons or hop open-world spots to finish.

Final Key Fragment and Flight

Once you hit 70, buy your flying mount if you have the gold saved. With flying unlocked, complete the Arcatraz key quest chain from Area 52 in Netherstorm: clear The Mechanar and The Botanica for the two Arcatraz Key fragments, then enter The Arcatraz to collect the third Karazhan key fragment. Return to Black Morass for The Master’s Touch if necessary, then finish the Karazhan chain. This unlocks Karazhan and also makes Outland travel and profession gathering much faster.

TBC Classic Anniversary Mob Grinding Spots

A final note on efficiency: sometimes dungeons are too slow because of group wait times. A structured mob grinding approach lets you stay in open world areas with dense respawns and minimal competition.
