The Best Way to Farm Gold in WoW Midnight

The most reliable gold farming approach in Midnight always revolves around gathering professions, especially during the earlier expansion stages. What I usually do is run Herbalism + Mining early on, then switch to whatever the current most lucrative crafting profession is.  Raw materials remain the backbone of the in-game economy - every crafting system depends on them. The overall best profs that are always in demand are:

If you’re serious about making gold, this addon is a must. New players can start small by flipping common materials or crafting reagents. Experienced traders often focus on higher value gear, rare recipes, housing items, and materials that spike in price during new patches.

Crafting Orders and Consumables

Crafting systems in Midnight continue to induce specialization - even after the changes reducing the amount of low-quality item tiers. Players who invest heavily in a profession can produce high-quality items that other players prefer to buy instead of crafting themselves. There are several consumable item types that are in demand in every WoW expansion: 

• Potions

• Flasks

• Enchantments

These are especially valuable because they sell consistently throughout every season. If you’re playing a lot of high-tier content, try to keep track of how much you spend on consumables - I spend dozens of thousands a week when playing competitively. Demand usually increases before the weekly raid resets and M+ dungeon pushes, making selling timing an important factor.

Mob Grinding and Raw Gold Runs

This is my favorite method, even though it’s not the best way to make gold in World of Warcraft, especially after the heavy pre-Midnight nerfs to the gold value of the items dropped in legacy content. This method almost does not rely on the AH prices, unless you’re target farming mob-specific mats and BoEs. Raw gold farming focuses on killing enemies for direct coin drops, vendor items, and gear that can be vendored instantly for a quick buck. This method may not always produce the highest profit, but it’s chill and stable. 

Your earnings from this method will depend on which farm spot you choose, but the average amount you can make doing this strat is around 10-20k gold per hour. Make sure to do this method with an efficient enough class, using whatever movement speed increases available to you, and tweak your talent tree for as much movement as possible.

Legacy raids and older dungeons remain strong options for players who want a relaxed farming routine while getting transmogs, mounts, and pets for their collection, even after the nerfs. Most raids also occasionally drop BoE items, which you can sell on AH for some extra bucks. I think this method is the best way to make gold in Midnight for beginners, since you’re exploring old content, unlocking cosmetics, and earning gold at the same time.

2x4 Mob Grinds

Even though this method falls under the general mob grind/raw gold category, it deserves to be mentioned separately. How it works is there are 2 groups of 4 people farming a mob hyperspawn (which means a spot where mobs are respawning faster than normal) while collecting vendor trash, raw gold, cloth, and even occasional BoEs. You can find such groups in an in-game group finder. It’s an outstanding source of gold, and I used this method combined with leatherworking to earn my first millie.

Selling Housing Decor Items

Probably the freshest gold-making method in WoW are Housing decor-rellated. Prices on some of them are very steep, going upwards of tens of thousands of Gold, creating opportunities for you to make a quick buck by crafting and flipping them. OFC, it’s impossible to predict which ones are profitable on your server, so check out your local prices both on the crafted item and materials needed to craft it before committing to this method.

Player Housing Materials

This one’s great IMO, you’ll just need to kill some gray mobs in the open world to get in-demand old mats such as Fel Cloth. Once again, to make it worth your time, thoroughly research the prices on your realm to find the best-selling mats. You can do this method both in group and solo. I prefer to solo chill and watch movies in the background while earning tens of thousands of gold per hour.

Transmog Farming

Transmog farming is an old strategy that still works to this day. Every expansion had open-world BoE gear item drops, and some of them became highly desirable due to how they looked. Collectors missing transmog pieces are in this market too, looking to purchase even the mediocre-looking pieces. 

The biggest drawback of this method is how random it is when you look for something specific, take Blackrock Bulwark, for example. You can either farm an old Warlord of Draenor raid and get it instantly or spend years getting nothing. Since the method is so unreliable, and not only is it random, but the demand on your realm for this specific item could be low as well, resulting in you being unable to get actual gold for it.

As with every method listed today, do due research before committing to it. I’ve spent way too much time farming and trying to sell worthless transmogs nobody wanted.

Selling Battle Pets

Another pretty niche gold-making strategy is farming, leveling, and then selling battle pets. There are dozens of them dropping from open-world elites, legacy raids, and other sources. You can either sell them right after getting them or level them up yourself, since max-level pets cost way more than unleveled ones. The main drawback I’ve encountered with this method is similar to the transmog farming; it could be really hard to find a buyer.

3. Always diversify your income to avoid being affected by market fluctuations.

4. Use the TSM addon and external community-driven sites and resources to get a grasp of how your realm’s economy works, specifically in your niche.

Combining several gold-making methods and adhering to these tips is how you earn your first million. Note that gold farming is a play style - you’ll need to spend quite a lot of time doing it, just like you would trying to get good at M+, raids, or PvP.

Best Classes for Gold Farming in Midnight

Not every class farms gold at the same pace. Classes that can move quickly between farming locations, quickly clear enemies in a large AoE, and tank large packs of mobs decently well are best for farming. Here are the best classes for gold farming in Midnight and why:

• Druid is the classic farming choice, relevant in any form of farming - be it gathering, mob killing, or group farms. Faster movement speed through Cat Form and Flight form, both indoors and outdoors, makes this class a prime choice for any type of farming activities. Bear form allows this class to clear older content that no other class can complete by themselves, creating another gold-making opportunity.

• Demon Hunter is a great pick due to how self-sufficient, good at dealing AOE damage, and mobile they are. 

• Evokers have a gathering bonus built in with a possibility to Skyride, making them excellent at picking nodes. Their AOE damage is very good too, making them an efficient mob farming choice.

• Rogues have access to unique pickpocketing stealth farming. With the right talent tree, their movement is quite good, and AOE damage could be decent, especially using the Outlaw spec. 

• Mages are a reliable choice for all forms of mob farming due to how strong their AOE damage and group control are. You also get decent movement with blinks and some travel convenience with town portals, playing this class.

Ultimately, you do not need to change your main character to farm gold efficiently. For example, I used to farm gold using Hunter and Shaman quite effectively, even though it wasn’t the optimal choice. Most classes can perform well if you focus on routes and methods that fit their strengths.
