WoW Forever Healer Tier List

Forever gives healers a lot more buttons to play with than their old dusty Classic rotations. Priest has new ways to heal and save mana, Druid gets proper party healing, and Paladin isn’t just a Flash of Light spammer. In this WoW Forever healer tier list, I’ve ranked all five specs for PvE and PvP, with reasoning behind each placement.

WoW Forever Healer Tier List TL;DR

  • Holy Priest and Restoration Druid lead for raid healing, with strong tools for damage across several players.

  • Restoration Shaman brings excellent support, but the latest Riptide no longer has an upfront heal.

  • Discipline Priest is strongest when focusing on a few targets, especially a tank taking focused damage.

  • Holy Paladin ranks lower in PvE than in PvP. Its single-target healing and support still earn it a place.

Holy Priest and Restoration Druid take S-tier for their ability to AOE heal without leaving the tank without sustain. Shaman follows closely, with totems and mana support that can make the spec way more valuable than a higher-ranked healer, at least in some comps. Discipline and Holy Paladin have powerful tank-healing tools, but a raid taking AOE damage exposes their weak AOE healing hard.

S-Tier: Restoration Druid

Druid is excellent when there’s a lot of targets to heal. Rejuvenation and Regrowth keep DOT healing, and you also have Wild Growth that covers the target’s party very comfortably. That lets you work on the tank and AOE healing everyone else at the same time, which is invaluable in raids.

Wild Growth has an important limitation: it is party-based. It also has a 3-second cast, reduced to 2.5 seconds with Naturalist. You really have to be comfortable with decision-making there, since a wrong cast can mess up not only your rotation but the entire pull.

Bloom makes Spirit more interesting than a mana-regeneration stat alone. When Rejuvenation or Regrowth expires naturally, it heals the target for 100% of your Spirit. At 300 Spirit, that is a 300-point heal before other modifiers. Refreshing the HoT early prevents that natural expiration, so constantly overwriting your own buffs can throw away healing you already paid for. The Bloom tooltip spells out the trigger. That doesn’t mean you should let someone die waiting for Bloom, since Swiftmend and Nature’s Swiftness are there for emergencies.

Druid’s drawback is catching up after groupmates take too much unexpected damage. Wild Growth needs a cast and then some time to tick, and blanketing healthy players with HoTs drains mana if the damage never arrives. S-Tier placement is only justified if you’re making those casts count.

S-Tier: Holy Priest

Holy Priest seemingly has a button for any situation. You can focus the tank with Heal and Greater Heal, use Flash Heal when somebody needs some emergency healing, and sometimes even pop a Prayer of Healing on another part of the raid group. That way, you can help the group taking damage without asking the raid leader to move you into it.

Prayer of Mending adds yet another efficient healing source, with up to five healing charges jumping between players - It can trigger from incoming damage or a direct heal. Self-sustain is also kind of crazy if you think about it - Holy Binding is extremely good when both you and the tank are hurt. Flash Heal on another player also heals you for 50% of the amount. A 2,000-point Flash Heal therefore gets you another 1,000 healing to you, before any overhealing is counted in.

Litany of Light rewards alternating healing spells by refunding part of their mana cost, which solves a considerable amount of mana problems if your rotation is on point. There’s a reason to mix your heals, but don’t cast an unnecessary spell just to trigger the refund. Spending mana on a full-health target can cost more than you save. The only weakness the class has that I can think of is how stationary it is, but other than that, you’re set up to have a great time healing in Forever if you pick this spec.

A-Tier: Restoration Shaman

Shaman can heal the tank and nearby melees with the same Chain Heal cast, which is why positioning matters so much with a Resto on your team. Riptide goes further into AOE healing and improves Chain Heal cast directly on its target by 25%. It also now has a 12-second cooldown, costs less mana, and provides healing over time without an initial heal. Blizzard lists the change in its Latest development notes.

Water Shield and Mindfulness help you sustain healing, and Mana Tide on your skill bar supports your party’s mana, which is a huge deal in raids - Totems alone are a reason why Shamans get into raid groups over other options. Tremor and Grounding are both excellent tools that can prevent trouble that would otherwise force several healing casts out of you.

I’ve put Shaman in an A-tier because the group comp and positioning make resto into a bit of a niche pick. Also, the Riptide not healing health right away sounds way too annoying. But in a melee-heavy group and with the right totem placements, this spec can be S-Tier.

B-Tier: Discipline Priest

Discipline is good at keeping a heavily focused player alive through insane damage some bosses are dishing out.  Power Word: Shield is an iconic ability that gives your target protection before the next hit, and Penance restores health through a 2-second channel. Renewed Hope links the two: heals on a target with Weakened Soul gain extra critical-strike chance and shortens that debuff. That makes Disc gameplay more proactive than any other healer spec. You aren’t just waiting for Weakened Soul to end; healing the target helps bring the next shield back sooner.

Discipline falls behind Holy when several players need sustained healing. It still has baseline Priest spells such as Prayer of Healing, but it spends its deeper talent points strengthening shields and focused healing instead of Holy’s healing bonuses and mana replenish interactions. That makes B-Tier a fair placement, I think, but with a caveat that it’s very good for dedicated tank sustain.

C-Tier: Holy Paladin

Holy Paladin functions similarly to the Disc Priest in a sense that it works best when it can concentrate on a tank. Boundless Light gives Holy Shock extra critical-strike chance on allies without your Oath. So you just keep the tank as your main target, then use Holy Shock to help an occasional injured player.

You have some AOE potential through Light’s Vigil and Holy Shock combo, but it needs some setup time and a good understanding of when to pop it. Paladin ranks last here because focused healing doesn’t cover every raid assignment, and even in that job, Disc looks much better. Oath helps one player, and party recovery takes more preparation than it does for the higher-ranked specs. Cleanse, Freedom, and other support spells remain useful, but you still need some of the better healers to do the actual main job of healing alongside you.

WoW Forever PvP Healer Tier List

Best Healers in WoW Forever PvP

PvP changes the order because opponents can interrupt you, switch targets, and remove buffs. Druid’s ability to heal while moving and Discipline’s instant shields become much more valuable. Holy Paladin also moves up considerably: keeping a flag carrier alive and moving creates huge value:

Holy Priest

Discipline Priest is strong when enemies swap onto a teammate. An instant shield can buy the time needed to cast Penance, and you have your offensive dispels and Psychic Scream to help your team fight back. Shields can be dispelled, though, and standing in the open to finish every channel makes you easy to interrupt, so there’s a decent deal of positioning and knowing when you’re safe to cast that goes into making the spec work.

Restoration Druid suits flag support and fights where you need to keep moving. Apply HoTs before repositioning, use Travel Form to kite your opps. Purges remove your HoTs, so you’ll have to use Bloom to get at least some healing off when your main tools are dispelled.

In PvP, Holy Paladin brings Freedom, Cleanse, Hammer of Justice, and strong personal survival to the table. That makes it a good partner for a carrier or melee group. Restoration Shaman has valuable tools in  Purge, Grounding, and Tremor, but needs teammates to help when enemy melee get on top of you. Holy Priest has useful PvP tools, including Holy Binding when you and an ally are both taking damage. But Disc is just so much better in BG, when you really need to keep that one teammate alive.
