The Unbinding of Kith’ix Raid Location

The raid is located on the Coiled Isle, right beneath the Vaults of Atal’Utek. Head through the Vaults into the Underbelly, find the staircase in its northeastern section, and descend to the portal at the far end of the room. The entrance waypoint is /way #2613 74.0 7.4, using the Vaults map. There’s also trash mobs guarding the entrance.

Kith’ix arrives with 12.1.5 on October 13 in North America and October 14 in Europe. As usual at this point, Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic are listed in the official content update notes.

Kith’ix Boss Tactics

Kith’ix’s fight has two phases, with a repeating intermission during the first. At 25% health, the fight gets into a damage race phase against Eightfold Eclipse. Here is the mechanics list that you need to understand before I explain them in detail later in the guide:

Mechanic

What it Does

What to do

Voidswarm

Summons adds during a six-second raid-damage channel

Kill the adds before 100 Energy

Commanding Presence

Reduces damage taken by aqir near Kith’ix

Keep the boss separate from the add pack

Dark Devastation

Hits the tank and nearby players, then applies Devastated

Swap tanks and keep others outside 15 yards

Extinguish

Heavy raid-wide Shadow damage

Collect Light’s Embrace before the cast

Unspeakable Horrors

Gives a warning before Overwhelming Fear

Move away before the fear disables you

Twisted Appendage

Aims a short frontal attack toward a player

Dodge the frontal, including during the darkness intermission

Suffocating Darkness

Darkness closes in and empowers surviving aqir

Enter Liadrin’s Refulgent Bulwark with adds dead

Abyssal Grasp

Applies a healing absorb and pulls players toward darkness

Heal through the absorb quickly

Eightfold Eclipse

Final-phase ritual that ends in a raid wipe

Kill Kith’ix before the last eclipse

Phase One

The entire fight you’re going to be dealing with both the boss and his adds. Voidswarm spawns Venomous Hulks, Voidweavers, and Bomber Beetles. Hulks have a frontal cone with knockback, Voidweavers add stacking raid-wide damage with their Nightfall, and beetles fixate on and follow the players around the arena. The add priorities are:

  • Face the Hulk away from the group.

  • Focus the Voidweaver.

  • Keep fixated beetles from running through the raid since the damage becomes too high otherwise.

  • Finish every surviving add before the Suffocating Darkness intermission phase starts.

One tank should be holding Kith’ix and the other collecting the adds away from him. On Normal and Heroic, Commanding Presence gives nearby aqir 50% damage reduction within 25 yards, so keep the boss beyond that range of the add pack. Voidweavers are stationary and spawn in pairs: drag the Hulk onto the first, cleave-kill that Voidweaver, then move it onto the second to easily control the boss.

Dark Devastation is the usual tank swap mechanic. It hits the active tank and everyone within 15 yards, then leaves Devastated, a stacking damage-taken debuff lasting 25 seconds. Swap after each hit, coordinating the aggros around the other tank’s Hulk so you don’t leave it running around the area attacking squishies. Keep the Hulk’s frontal attack away from the raid and use knockback prevention or mobility for Venom Roar; a Priest’s grip or an Evoker’s Rescue can also get your tank back to the boss.

Bomber Beetles arrive in groups of three and explode on contact with any player or after 30 seconds. Their Gut Reaction applies Digestive Juices to the entire raid, and the four-second damage effect stacks. Root or control the beetles, then have an assigned player trigger them one at a time.

Extinguish is your personal responsibility check - Liadrin scatters motes of Light’s Embrace, and every player needs to collect one before the shockwave. The protection lasts up to eight seconds and gets removed by Extinguish, so don’t grab it too early or otherwise you die.

Unspeakable Horrors gives targeted players six seconds to move away before Overwhelming Fear takes hold. When the fear is dispelled or expires, the player releases a scream with damage reduced by distance. Move during the warning, then have a healer dispel once you’re isolated. If multiple players are feared, stagger the dispels and heal the raid between hits.

Twisted Appendages also aim short frontal attacks toward players throughout the encounter. Watch their direction and sidestep, including while sheltering with Liadrin.

Suffocating Darkness Intermission

At 100 Energy, Kith’ix casts Suffocating Darkness and empowers surviving adds with Dark Frenzy. The adds gain faster attacks and movement, crowd-control immunity, and raid-wide damage. This is why add cleanup matters: move into Liadrin’s Refulgent Bulwark as the darkness closes in, and continue handling fear targets and tank circles without stepping outside its protection.

Abyssal Grasp is the healing check - it puts an absorb on affected players and drags them toward the darkness. Healers have an eight-second window to clear it before the target is flung out. Assign coverage groups so that every healer doesn’t choose the same target. Keep tank circles and fear targets near the barrier’s edge without crossing into the darkness.

When Liadrin reaches 100 Energy, Divine Radiance clears the darkness and stuns Kith’ix for eight seconds. You then return to the opening loop. Each Exhausted stack weakens her support and increases Suffocating Darkness damage by 10%, so later intermissions become harder. Use the opening to resume damage and settle your positions for the next wave.

Phase Two

At 25% health, Kith’ix casts Stygian Howl and begins Eightfold Eclipse. Remaining adds, Liadrin fully heals the raid and grants Luminous Grace, including 100% increased damage on Normal and Heroic. You have roughly one minute to finish that last quarter of his health before the eighth eclipse kills everyone, so Bloodlust and all DPS cooldowns and consumables should be used.

Null Gate marks players for five seconds, then opens a gate at their location. The opening hits within five yards, and the gates release Nullshards that apply Nullify stacks on contact. The lethal thresholds are six stacks on Normal and five on Heroic, so avoid clipping another player’s circle or walking through shards, but try to keep the gates reachable for tanks.

Negation increases the affected tank’s Physical damage taken and movement speed by 100% and grants Nullshard immunity. Swap tanks, then reach a Null Gate within the eight-second duration. Use a defensive before contact: Explosive Restabilization deals a large hit and clears gates and shards within 10 yards. Keep melee outside that blast and clear the gate closest to you.

Once your group reliably beats the final damage check without BL, you can consider Bloodlust in phase one to skip a darkness cycle. But I’d definitely keep it for phase two during initial progression - it’s too annoying to die so far into the fight.

Role Tips for Kith’ix

Tanks should keep the boss and adds separated, face the Hulk away from the raid, and swap after Dark Devastation hits them while also keeping its hitbox away from the rest of the raid. In the final phase, call your Negation movement so the other tank takes over while you reach a gate.

Healers should track Digestive Juices overlaps, Abyssal Grasp absorbs, and the damage around tank gate interactions. Dispel isolated Overwhelming Fear targets one at a time, healing the raid between hits.

DPS should switch to aqir promptly and finish the wave before 100 Energy. Don’t spend every major cooldown immediately before the 25% transition. Getting the boss low is useful, but the final burn still needs players alive and damage ready.

Heroic Difficulty Changes

Heroic adds more work to get done after the original adds die and during the darkness intermission. You keep the same basic positions, but now need coverage for Mindstingers and Eclipse Fragments.

Mindstinger Eggs

On Heroic, each Voidweaver drops two Mindstinger Eggs, while a Hulk drops four. Kill the eggs before they hatch: the resulting Mindstingers repeatedly attack players with a damage effect and a five-second stun. Commanding Presence doesn’t protect eggs, so you can bring Kith’ix over for cleave once the original adds are dead. Finish the eggs instead of immediately switching back to the boss.

Voidscars and Eclipse Fragments

Dark Devastation leaves a Voidscar on Heroic and Mythic. During Suffocating Darkness, those scars release Eclipse Fragments that travel toward Liadrin. Players need to intercept them before they reach her, because on reaching her, fragments damage the raid and shrink Refulgent Bulwark.

Interception applies a stacking damage effect that also hits allies within three yards. For early cycles, try to cluster two to four Voidscars so that the tank without Devastated can sweep up the fragments with healer coverage. Keep other players away from that tank. As more scars accumulate, spread new placements around the room and assign individual catchers and backups.

Mythic Difficulty Changes

Mythic keeps the Heroic mechanics and adds more damage to take both during the beetle cleanup and the final tank mechanic. Commanding Presence increases all the way to 90% damage reduction, making the adds control even more crucial, and Nullify becomes lethal at just three stacks. I’d focus progression on clean movement and predictable assignments before trying to squeeze out extra damage.

Bomber Beetle Incubation

Bomber Beetles also gain Incubation on Mythic. Their explosions now leave additional Mindstinger Eggs to deal with, so a staggered explosion needs follow-up add handling too. Keep DPS ready to switch and avoid treating each beetle’s death as the end of its mechanic.

Stacking Negation

Mythic Negation applies multiple stacks. Tanks need to track them during their gate interactions and clear the mechanic before it expires. Plan a reachable route, communicate the swap, and give healers a warning before Explosive Restabilization.
