Best Mounts in WoW Midnight 2026

Game’s been out for more than two decades, and every year brings new exciting collectibles for players to try and collect. Some of them became legendary not only for their appearance, but also for their unique looks or acquisition sources. In this article, I’ve put together a list of the best mounts in WoW Midnight for you to chase.

Best Mounts in WoW Midnight 2026 TL;DR

  • Invincible’s Reins, Ashes of Al’ar, and Mimiron’s Head remain top legacy mount farms in WoW: Midnight.

  • The Midnight’s Eternal Reins and Glacial Tidestorm stand out with more modern visuals and effects.

  • Time-Lost Proto-Drake and Silent Glider are some of the hardest farms due to rare spawns and low odds.

  • Mighty Caravan Brutosaur is still one of the most valuable mounts thanks to its auction house utility.

  • Most mounts on this list are still worth farming for prestige, style, or collector value in Midnight.

Some of the most prestigious mounts in WoW are only accessible on the Black Market Auction House, and at steep gold prices. Instead of farming yourself, you can skip the gold grind and buy WoW gold on Playhub. Best prices and secure delivery guaranteed.

Invincible’s Reins

Invincible Mount WoW

Invincible is still one of the most famous mounts Blizzard has ever made. It was introduced in Wrath of the Lich King with patch 3.3 and was awarded for defeating Arthas, the Lich King, in Icecrown Citadel, the last raid of the addon. WOTLK is considered to be a peak WoW addon by many metrics, and beating the last fight of the entire game was as prestigious as ever. After Cata rolled out, you could still try to get the mount from the boss, but at a reduced chance of 1 percent or even lower. The mount is valued highly for Death Knights and Paladins, since it allows many thematically outstanding transmog options.

Mount’s visuals still hold up to this day. Textures might be a bit blurry compared to today's mounts, but overall, the horse looks great. The lore behind the horse also makes the mount appeal to millions of players. The mount is also a meme at this point because you can easily do hundreds of runs and still not get it. I’ve run at least dozens throughout the years, and it still hasn’t come home. I should mention, like most other mounts in the list, it can also appear on the Black Market Auction House for an insane price, though the standard way to get it remains the weekly Arthas kill.

The Midnight

Midnight Mount WoW

OG Midnight from TBC was iconic in its own right, but when we revisited the Kara in Legion, we got an even better version. Updated textures, fantastic chainmail-esque armor, the perfect spectre red glow… The mount is fabulous, perfectly mixing up the old theme with new visuals. It’s still available to this day from Huntsman Attumen in Return to Karazhan, although at an abysmal chance and only in the Mythic difficulty.

Ashes of Al’ar

Ashes of Al

Ashes of Al’ar has never really left the top tier of WoW mount lists, and that still has not changed in Midnight. It was added in The Burning Crusade in patch 2.1 and drops from Kael’thas Sunstrider in The Eye, better known as Tempest Keep.

What makes this mount stand out is how old it is and how good it still looks. The color, the wing shape, and the history behind it still make it one of the most recognizable status pieces in the game, although the value has diminished over the years since everyone tried to get it at some point. The drop rate is estimated at around 1 to 2 percent, but I personally got it really quickly. What I mean is grind can be long, or you can get it in one try, you never know.

Mimiron’s Head

Mimiron

While Mimiron’s Head value has dropped in my opinion due to how many similarly themed and looking mounts we got in recent years, it still is unique and prestigious in its own right. This mount was introduced in Wrath of the Lich King with patch 3.1 and drops from Yogg-Saron in Ulduar with an estimated chance of around 1 percent, but only if you complete the encounter with no Keeper assistance.

What makes the mount special is how uniquely goofy it looks, even compared to other engineering-themed mounts. It’s especially good when used with smaller character models, say gnomes or dwarfs. I wanted this mount badly back in the days, but after years of weekly runs on several characters, I’ve decided to let Yogg keep it.

Glacial Tidestorm

Glacial Tidestorm Mount WoW

Glacial Tidestorm is one of Blizzard’s best elemental mounts, added back in Battle for Azeroth with patch 8.1, and to this day drops from Mythic Lady Jaina Proudmoore in Battle of Dazar’alor. This one is much newer than the Wrath and Burning Crusade classics on the list, and it shows in the effects and animation work.

The mount looks stunning visually and is a perfect choice for mages and shamans alike. Even though years have passed since its release, people are still running BoD weekly in an attempt to get it. It’s also almost completely unique in the way it’s designed and animated; there aren’t many choices if you’re trying to go for this theme specifically.

Mighty Caravan Brutosaur

Mighty Caravan Brutosaur Mount WoW

Blizzard has added many gold sink mounts before and after this one, but not one came close to this utility monstrosity. Originally costing 5 million gold, this mount single-handedly made millions of players get into gold farming and try to save up enough to buy this one. It was also announced that the Brutosaur is a BfA-exclusive mount, meaning it’ll leave after the expansion ends. I’m scared to think how many millions Blizz made just by adding this mount.

After the Shadowlands release, the Brutosaur is now available for purchase on the Black Market AH, most of the time for exorbitant bids. While more and more players got this one over the years, and there was also a WoW shop mount with the same functionality, it remains a symbol of commitment and prestige. I’d go as far as to say that for many players, farming and getting the Brutosaur is the real endgame, not raids, PvP, and M+ - they come and go, and AH dino stays forever.

Time-Lost Proto-Drake

Time-Lost Proto-Drake Mount WoW

Time-Lost Proto-Drake was completely unique in its acquisition when It was introduced in Wrath of the Lich King with patch 3.0. It drops from the rare spawn of the same name in Storm Peaks. The important part is that once you actually find and kill the rare, the mount is effectively a guaranteed reward. The hard part is actually finding this elusive guy - he spawns at random intervals (Wowhead says around 2-8 hours on retail and up to 20 hours originally) at one of 4 spawn points:

  1. /way The Storm Peaks 31.5, 70.0 Frozen Lake

  2. /way The Storm Peaks 51.1, 71.2 Brunn Village

  3. /way The Storm Peaks 35.0, 76.5 Waterfall

  4. /way The Storm Peaks 52.3, 35.0 Ulduar Ravine

That design is why Time-Lost Proto-Drake still feels so different and unique, like some time and space anomaly. I have fond memories of trying to camp him out at night, all to no avail. Magic Rooster

Magic Rooster

If you like weird mounts just like I do, this one’s for you - literally a giant rooster to ride around on. It came from the WoW Trading Card Game, specifically the El Pollo Grande card from the Fields of Honor set, added to the live game in patch 3.1.2 during the Wrath era. If you wish to acquire this one, you’ll have to acquire a TCG mount code.

Despite being added so far back, the mount holds up extremely well. It’s entirely unique visually, and it looks absolutely insane paired with a gnome rider. If you want to stand out among the normies riding horses, dragons, and other glowing stuff, this is a perfect choice. The price is steep, though, and it continues to rise since the stock is not being replenished.

Antoran Charhound

Antoran Charhound Mount WoW

This one’s my personal favorite. This skeleton is very overused these days, but back in the Legion days, there were almost no mounts with this skeleton, and I was playing DH all the time. It was added in patch 7.3.2 and drops from the Felhounds of Sargeras encounter in Antorus, the Burning Throne. You can still try to get it with about a 1% chance on every weekly reset.

The mount also has a Purple recolor, which is way easier to get, but the fire on the Antoran version is perfect. Mount looks very edgy while not going over the board with colors and effects, perfect for so many classes, races, and transmogs - we got so many fire-themed ones over the years.

Silent Glider

Silent Glider Mount WoW

Silent Glider is one of the most underrated mounts on this list. It was introduced in Battle for Azeroth with patch 8.2 and drops from Soundless, a rare in Nazjatar. It spawns once every 8 hours. The chance to drop the mount is estimated to be around 1.4%, and the spawn points are irregular, scattered around a large area.

What makes Silent Glider so good is how different it looks and feels from most prestige mounts. Collectors know how rare it is, but the casual player wouldn’t know how cool this mount is at a glance, which makes it even cooler. In my opinion, the mount is perfect - it’s a sleek grey stingray, nothing more, which could go perfectly with many transmogs and races. If you happen to get your hands on this one randomly, you’re a real winner. Sadly, couldn’t get my hands on this one, even though I happened to encounter the Soundless a couple of times.
