Midnight Full Specs PvP Tier List

That’s how I see the current meta to be. Mages and Sub Rogues are both classic PvP players' choices, and in Midnight, they both perform great. Some healers perform better than others, and tanks struggle to fit the current meta, aside from maybe prot Paladins, they’re too good at protecting their teammates while dealing respectable damage.

Everybody hates to play against tanks in PvP, and there have been lots of discussions on Reddit and forums about whether they should even be available for play in PvP for years now. It appears that the devs listened because playing most tank specs in PvP is absolutely miserable right now, so I’d suggest going for DPS or healer options at all times.

Not all specs in Midnight are created equal, and some are straight up lagging behind right now in terms of damage and utility.

As always, Mages and Rogues are a safe haven for PvP players. Honestly, I can’t remember a time when they were bad. You might get bothered by Survival Hunters since they’re very good right now, but play your cards right and you may outplay them pretty easily.

Speaking of Survival, they end up in S-Tier due to them being the best mellee spec right now, in my opinion. You’re essentially a better Warrior right now - you do more damage, you have insane mobility and CC, your survivability is off the charts if you use a tenacity pet and know how to utilize broken Feign Death.

We also got silent performers in Shadow Priest and Devourer DH, they seem to be especially powerful in 3v3 scenarios, where they can cleave enemies with insane damage. Demo Locks and Unholy DKs are in the same boat - they are at least A-tier just because of how overtuned their numbers are - you snooze you get overrun buy a mob of demons. Feral druids are performing quite well after pruning, especially paired with Disc Priests.

It hurts to put Shamans, Havoc DHs, and Warriors in B-Tier, but the numbers are way too low right now.  You can try your luck playing them; maybe you’re that good, you can overcome bad balancing, but overall, you’d be better off waiting for buffs or playing higher-tier alternatives. Midnight PvP Healer Specs Tier List

Midnight PvP Healer Specs Tier List

Healer landscape looks bright - you have many options to choose from, and they are pretty balanced among themselves. Here’s how I ranked the specs:

Tier

Specs

S-Tier

Discipline Priest, Mistweaver Monk

A-Tier

Restoration Shaman

B-Tier

Holy Priest, Holy Paladin, Preservation Evoker, Restoration Druid

I value Disc and Mistweaver higher since they are capable of dishing out damage just as effectively as they heal their allies. Resto Druids could be ranked higher; it’s just that I feel like they lag behind in terms of in-moment burst healing and defensive CDs compared to other competitors. Overall, I think you won’t get bummed out playing any of these; they’re all viable in their own way, just make sure to find teammates that will complement your choice.

Battleground Blitz Tier List

Battleground Blitz Tier List

In BG’s things are different, and so are my rankings. Specs that feel at home in chaotic skirmishes and can dish protect themselves and their teammates while dishing out damage in prolonged fights are the ones that move up the ranks.

Tier

Specs

S-Tier

Retribution Paladin, Unholy DK, Devastation Evoker, Sub Rogue, Shadow Priest, Destruction Warlock

A-Tier

Fire Mage, Survival Hunter, Feral Druid, Elemental Shaman, Havoc Demon Hunter, Arms Warrior, Fury Warrior, Enhancement Shaman, Discipline Priest, Holy Paladin, Preservation Evoker, Balance Druid, Mistweaver Monk, Protection Paladin

B-Tier

Frost Mage, Arcane Mage, Beast Mastery Hunter, Assassination Rogue, Demonology Warlock, Affliction Warlock, Devourer Demon Hunter, Protection Warrior, Guardian Druid, Restoration Shaman, Restoration Druid, Holy Priest, Marksmanship Hunter

C-Tier

Windwalker Monk, Brewmaster Monk

D-Tier

Augmentation Evoker, Frost Death Knight, Outlaw Rogue

Retribution is the classic BG carry spec. You can tank several enemies at once, you’re dishing out mad damage, and that’s the properties you need when contesting a point in BG. This spec is excellent at holding enemies out while your teammates do the objective work.

Same goes for Unholy - it’s a premiere choice for BGs - you turn already confusing fights into a complete mess with your adds. With how overtuned Unholy’s damage currently is, your enemies won’t even know what killed them. Devastation Evokers are insane for AOE cleave - you jump around dishing damage and CC, you’re hard to pin down and chain CC, and with proper healer support, you’ll melt enemies in no time.

Midnight Solo Shuffle Tier List

Midnight Solo Shuffle Tier List

Since you can’t plan out your team composition in Solo Shuffle, specs that are universally good no matter what team they’re in are ranked higher here.

Tier

Specs

S-Tier

Unholy DK, Sub Rogue, Devastation Evoker, Frost Mage, Fire Mage, Shadow Priest, Demonology Warlock, Mistweaver Monk

A-Tier

Survival Hunter, Retribution Paladin, Windwalker Monk, Discipline Priest, Feral Druid, Havoc Demon Hunter, Fury Warrior, Enhancement Shaman, Assassination Rogue, Holy Paladin, Preservation Evoker

B-Tier

Arcane Mage, Beast Mastery Hunter, Balance Druid, Elemental Shaman, Destruction Warlock, Affliction Warlock, Devourer Demon Hunter, Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman, Protection Paladin, Protection Warrior, Guardian Druid

C-Tier

Arms Warrior, Frost Death Knight, Outlaw Rogue, Brewmaster Monk, Restoration Druid

D-Tier

Augmentation Evoker

Once again, I value Unholy and Shadow Priest high in this mode - they do their job effectively no matter the team. With these classes, you go in, press your buttons, and someone’s going to eventually die. Classic PvP specs such as Frost Mage and Sub Rogues are also good in Solo Shuffle - you do your thing right, and it’ll just work out. Mistweavers seem to be overtuned right now, so they take S-tier in every PvP list there is, but you can opt for Disc Priest - you’ll be just fine.

Best PvP Specs for Beginners in Midnight

When choosing your first PvP character, it’s important to choose something relatively simple. Having lots of important CDs to manage, being locked in long casting animations and being unable to get you out of tough situations with mobility spells is suboptimal when you don’t understand the flow of the game yet. Here’s the specs I deem best for beginners:

  1. Fire Mage - lots and lots of utility, great movement, lots of instant casts that do a lot of damage - you’ll have a blast playing it even if you’re completely new to PvP. You’re a melee kiting machine that’s almost never stationary while doing damage, and the payoff is huge.

  2. Retribution Paladin - huge damage and healing/protection utility for your arena mates. It’s so easy to execute properly and see your enemy's health melt in huge chunks.

  3. Devourer Demon Hunter - Havoc was famous for how easy and fun it was to play ever since the initial release, and Devourer continues the legacy, but deals better damage than its predecessor right now. It’s a very mobile, very head-on caster that has a low skill floor, perfect for players trying to learn the game.

  4. Survival Hunter - while there are more buttons to be pressed and CDs to manage, you’ll have a higher ceiling than other options from the list. Historically, Survival is an evergreen PvP spec good throughout the years, and there’s no reason to think that in Midnight it’ll be otherwise.

  5. Holy Priest - while I’d opt for Disc, Holy is a nice entry-level spec for you to start enjoying Arenas and learning the game. Prob the best plan is to start slow with Holy and then once you feel confident in your understanding of the game, spec into Disc.

These are all great for a starter, with each spec offering different playstyles that will suit different kinds of players. Choose the one you like, invest your time into understanding both your and your enemy’s kits, and you’ll climb the ranks in no time.
